Practice

The firm’s practice has two broad divisions. On the one hand is the Litigation Division and on the other is the Consultancy and Advisory Services Division. A key senior member of the team heads the litigation department; while another experienced and dynamic barrister is in charge of the consultancy and advisory services.

Our areas of practice include the following:

CONSTITUTIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE LAW.
We have a well developed practice in constitutional and administrative law which includes Human Rights. The head of the firm is an expert on constitutional law, a subject wherein he earned his LLD.

ELECTION PETITIONS
Since 1999, the firm has successfully defended election petitions filed against some Governors, Senators, Members of House of Representatives, Houses of Assembly and Chairmen of Local Government Councils. The firm is either briefed by the individuals concerned or by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

IMMIGRATION LAW
Many credible Nigerians have been denied visas to the United Kingdom on grounds that were ludicrous and untenable. Unfortunately, many visa applicants do not appreciate the rights that they have under the UK immigration laws and rules to challenge bad decisions made by entry clearance officers at the British High Commission offices at Lagos and Abuja. In view of this identified gap and numerous enquiries from clients who were refused visas, the firm has developed a niche practice in the UK Immigration Law.

Because we have a relationship with a United Kingdom based firm of solicitors, when we receive briefs from clients, we consult our associates in the UK and where necessary, an appeal is filed and prosecuted on behalf of clients by our UK associates. What is more, we are proud that most of the appeals have been successful at the UK Immigration Tribunals.

BANKING LAW
The incidents of bad banking practices and dubious customers have been endemic and have grown in sophistication. Since 1988, the firm has been prosecuting and defending cases for and on behalf of banks. It has also been rendering advisory services to some banks and financial institutions.

Others are family law, commercial law, property and convenyancing law, criminal law, insurance law, dispute resolution and environmental law.
